  Report on the Monthly Sales Statistical Survey of Shopping Centers
  August 2007

Total sales SC Up 0.5% this August
Estimated Total SC Sales Figure Totals 2,156.6 Billion Yen
(Up 5.2% Compared with Same Month Last Year)

Outlook

Sales of previously established shopping centers rose again with 0.5% in August against figures for the same month last year.
Brisk sales of summer goods triggered by the seasonal onset of summer in addition to the effect of renewals and events in the shopping centers contributed to this positive result.
Classification by tenant type revealed women’s apparel and variety stores as tenants with favorable results.
As for anchor tenants’ sales, sales of the fresh food and processed foodstuffs were favorable.

*This survey has been compiled from information obtained after sampling 1,000 SC according to location and size from among 2,759 SC - the total number of SC at the end of December 2006.
*This survey is based on the 570 SC samples obtained, the sample retrieval rate being 57.0%.
*(Estimated) total sales of SC for August have been computed based on the total number of 2,805 in existence at the end of July 2007. (An increase of 71 over last year)

【comment】
Compared with previous month, sales of tenants turned positive and improved by 5.0 points resulting in a plus 0.6 figure.
Sales of anchor tenants improved by 4.3 points and ended positive by 0.4%.These were their first positive sales figures in the six month period since February 2007.

Sales in central areas last month scored a -6.0% result, a record since the start of this survey in January 2003.
These figures have improved by 6.6points and turned positive by 0.6% this month when compared with previous month.
The sales of central areas in large cities have improved by 7.3 points and showed a1.9% positive result, sales of central areas in medium cities improved by 6.7points, but results ended negative by 0.3%

Last month, sales in all regions were negative when compared with previous month.
However, sales in Hokkaido, Kanto and Chugoku region turned positive. Sales in the Hokkaido region have improved by 7.3 points and ended with a 0.0% result when compared with previous month.
