Sales SC See 4.2% Fall in July
Estimated Total SC Sales Figure Totals 2,419.8 Billion Yen
(0.1% Lower than Same Month Last Year)
Sales of previously established shopping centers showed a sharp decline of 4.2% this July, the second worst result since the 5.6% fall of February 2005. The late end of the rainy season, weak demand for summer goods in addition to the fact that some shopping centers shifted their summers sales forward to the end of June are thought to be contributing factors of this poor result.
Classification by tenant type revealed that tenants claiming unfavorable results were women's apparel and variety stores.
As for anchor tenants' sales, men's and women's clothing stores showed unfavorable results.
*This survey has been compiled from information obtained after sampling 1,000 SC according to location and size from among 2,759 SC - the total number of SC at the end of December 2006.

*(Estimated) total sales of SC for July have been computed based on the total number of 2,799 SC in existence at the end of June 2007. (An increase of 72 over last year)
