Sales SC Up 2.4% this June.
Estimated Total SC Sales Figure Totals 2,211.8 Billion Yen.
(Up 5.7% Compared with Same Month Last Year)
Sales of previously established shopping centers rose 2.4% in June for two consecutive months when compared with figures for the same month last year.
Some shopping centers shifted their summer sales, usually started around the beginning of July, to June 30 (Saturday), thus contributing to the sales increase.
Also the fact that nationwide the rainy season came later than usual, together with a spell of little rainfall till the middle of June (according to the Meteorological Agency), are seen as factors stimulating customer turnout.
Classification by tenant type revealed favorable results for women's apparel stores in addition to shoe and bag shops. Variety stores, restaurants and service-related stores on the other hand reported unfavorable figures.
Among the anchor tenants' sales, household articles showed a favorable trend.
